Attracting and Retaining Gig Workers in the UK Hospitality Industry

Using the current UK Standard Industrial Classification (SIC 2007) for accommodation and food service activities explore and critically investigate the factors contributing to attracting and retaining Gig workers in the UK hospitality industry focusing on workers in the accommodation and food service activities and their employers.

To fulfil the aim of the research the following four objectives were set out:
1. To explore how and why Gig workers enter this work.
2. To identify factors that influence Gig workers retention.
3. To investigate approaches of employers to attracting Gig workers.
4. To assess employers strategies and understandings of Gig workers retention
