Below are the instructions for the memorandum.

The executive memorandum should include and follow the format below:

A brief statement of the curriculum issue that you are recommending for change. Keep this section brief and provide only what the reader needs to know regarding the curriculum issue at present in the school/district.

Summary of the curriculum issue. Provide a clear statement of the curriculum issue you feel needs to be improved upon in your current setting. Make sure the reader is made aware of the specific curriculum issue and your concern with the specific curriculum issue.

Your recommendations along with support from Curriculum 21. This is where you provide your recommendations based on support from Curriculum 21 your experiences and the content from this course. You are requesting a change to some form of curriculum in your school and/or district based on what you have read in Curriculum 21. This section is the bulk of your memorandum. You must support your recommendations with specific content from Curriculum 21.

The content of the memorandum is up to you. However you will want to be sure to include enough information on the specific curriculum issue you want to address as well as the ideas and support for change based on your reading of Curriculum 21. The purpose of this memorandum is to inform the decision-maker (s) of the curriculum issue you propose to improve in preparation for the 21st Century why it needs improvement what options there are for improvement and which options do you support.

There are specific format requirements for this document:

No cover letter.

Use single-spaced block paragraphs.

Should be approximately 2 to 3 pages.

The memorandum is hypothetical yet based on some curriculum issue in your local district. You are not to submit this to the individual; however the person or body of people will serve as your intended audience.

Remember that a memorandum is a briefing and not a research paper. Provide language and format that is easy for the reader to follow and understand.
